OMAN

The Sultanate of Oman on the southeast tip of the Arabian Peninsula enjoys the same oil wealth of its neighbors, but has chosen to use this money to celebrate and promote Omani tradition. So while you do not see stunning works of avant-garde architecture, you will notice a flowering of Omani culture. The capital of Muscat a modern, orderly, low rise city, with great traditional markets showcasing local products, a beautiful seaside, excellent infrastructure and well designed traditional buildings. We first visit the highlights of Muscat, then head into the mountains. The mountain villages are the true heart and soul of Oman. Centuries old, beautiful, culturally rich and surrounded by remarkable mountains and canyons. We explore these villages and the surrounding countryside, including Jebel Shams known as the 'Grand Canyon of Arabia.'
